One of the oldest sports in the world has become the  NEW "in" sport! Over 40 million people play Team Handball throughout the world, and now, finally...the sport has not only rolled into Florida but has brought a gold medal to Miami.
The Florida clubs were launched by Dominique Dumont, a former member of the Canadian junior national program. "We are attracting tons of new athletes every day and we are very excited that practices are held weekly in Miami and in Tampa. Shortly both teams will go head to head in some friendly scrimmages to gauge our skill levels. It should be fun." says Dumont.
As handball grows leaps and bounds in the state, including a new team at Palm Beach Atlantic College, the clubs are extending invitations to everyone who wants to play. All age groups are welcome since the Clubs are comprised of men, women and youth teams. Those who prefer to launch their own Clubs are encourage to as well. There is a particular need for leadership in the Jupiter area, Orlando, Pensacola, Jacksonville and Gainesville.
Just natural athleticism, a pair of sneakers, shorts and a t-shirt and you are set to get started! Clubs encourage newcomers to join and experience handball. For those who simply wish to practice or athletes who wish to compete, everyone is welcome. The southeast will be host to its own circuit come the start of the new season in September. The summer is a good time to reach out to us and express your interes.
